Lately, it feels like we're at a crossroads when it comes to Generative AI. I keep getting asked, "How do we make this practical?"—essentially, how can AI truly transform an organization for the better? It’s not just tech insiders asking these questions. The stock market has shown signs of skepticism, too. It’s a classic Jerry Maguire moment: “Show me the money.”
But as we shake off the summer slumber and dive back into work, we’ll see that AI is genuinely here to help us achieve more. During the Olympics, we witnessed remarkable advancements. Amazon, for example, recently shared how developers are saving days of time by leveraging GenAI to enhance their coding. And during ABBYY's Intelligent Automation month, several customers are sharing how AI has transformed their businesses.
Sir or Madam, read on for the key updates and highlights from last month!

It's happening. The EU’s AI Act is coming into force, and it's going to shake things up. The legislation is set to become the most stringent AI regulation globally, impacting everyone from tech giants to small startups. If you thought GDPR was intense, the EU AI Act is the new kid on the block, setting strict rules on how AI can be developed, used, and sold. High-risk applications, like facial recognition and predictive policing, will be scrutinized like never before. The penalties? They’re no joke—companies could face fines as high as 6% of their global annual turnover.
This isn’t just a wake-up call for the tech industry; it's a potential game-changer for AI innovation across Europe. As the dust settles, many are wondering: will this law help shape a safer AI future, or will it stifle the very innovation it seeks to protect? The stakes couldn’t be higher, and companies worldwide are watching closely to see how it all unfolds. Welcome to the new world of AI compliance—are you ready?
The 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics marked a significant shift in how AI is integrated into global events. From enhanced athlete performance tracking to dynamic fan engagement, AI's role this year was bigger than ever. Notably, AI-powered systems were used to streamline operations, assist with real-time translations, and even help athletes optimize their training through predictive analytics. The use of AI in analyzing sports data allowed coaches and teams to make better-informed decisions, bringing a new level of precision to elevate their competitive edge.
While the world marveled at human feats of strength and agility, AI quietly played its part behind the scenes, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. This year's games showcased how AI is not just a futuristic idea but a practical tool that helps organizations, athletes, and even fans experience more from the event. Read on to explore the technological leaps AI is making on the global stage
The future is looking more human—literally. The launch of Figure 02, a new humanoid robot from Figure AI, brings us one step closer to blending advanced robotics with everyday tasks. Designed to perform labor-intensive jobs, Figure 02 stands at 5'6", weighing 132 pounds, with the agility and dexterity to handle a wide range of activities, from lifting heavy items to complex manipulative tasks. The goal? To create robots that can work safely alongside humans in warehouses, factories, and beyond.
But what really sets Figure 02 apart is its impressive AI integration. Combining machine learning with advanced motor control, Figure 02 is designed to learn and adapt in real-time, offering a flexible and scalable solution to labor shortages and increasing demands in industries like logistics and manufacturing. While we’re not at a fully autonomous workforce yet, Figure 02 shows that we’re inching ever closer to a future where robots and humans can work side by side to boost productivity and efficiency.
Are humanoid robots set to replace the need for human labor, or are they here to simply lighten the load? Only time will tell, but the possibilities are fascinating.

Long before AI became a household term, artificial intelligence was already quietly transforming the film industry. One of the first major uses of CGI (computer-generated imagery) in film was in Westworld (1973), where a form of AI was used to create the iconic pixelated view of the android Gunslinger's vision. However, it was Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) that truly brought AI to the big screen with its groundbreaking CGI effects, specifically the liquid metal T-1000. These effects were created using early AI-driven algorithms to simulate realistic movement and transformations, marking a significant leap forward for both CGI and AI technology in entertainment.
